Recommendations Here we list some tips to make your stay more enjoyable. |

Security:
Amsterdam is a safe city, and there is nothing to fear when walking in
any part of the city. However, don't leave your belongings unattended.
When you're in a coffee shop, bar or restaurant, keep your bag near to
you - under the table, between your legs. As in every larger city,
beware of pickpockets. Some residential surburbs (outside the city)
have a bad reputation at night.
The side streets around Nieuwendijk, the Southern end of Zeedijjk, the streets
off and the Damrak are not recognized to be entirely safe.
Do not walk along the bicycle lanes :
This type of transport along the city is very popular and useful, but you must remember not to walk along the lanes. The lanes are usually clearly marked with a bike symbol on the way. These
are express-roads in which
the bike
rules. Avoid
walking on, and standing in bike lanes.
Locals can get very angry. When you hear a bike bell, please get quickly out of the
way. Bicycles are available for rent in practically every city, town and village in Holland at bike dealers, repair shops and rental agencies.( EUR 5.90 per day or EUR 41 per week aprox.) Prices may change according to location and quality of the bicycle, as well as to the demand for rentals at any particular time of the year. There are as well private Bike Tours everywhere in the city.
